石林风景区是世界喀斯特地貌的精华，拥有世界上喀斯特地貌分布面积最广、类型齐全、形态独特的古生代岩溶地貌群落，被誉为“天下奇观”,堪称“石林喀斯特博物馆”“大自然雕塑博物馆”，具有极高的科学和美学价值。  

      本展区展出内容：主要由地下水溶蚀作用，在可溶性岩石分布区，长期塑造而形成的各种地表和地下景观。

      地表景观以石林为例，通过图文与实物结合的方式，生动直观地再现了喀斯特地貌的演化与变迁。

      同时，博物馆对以往矿山开发及工程施工中遇到的地下洞穴石进行了抢救性收藏，使其发挥更大的利用价值。几十年来，收藏了不同洞穴环境、不同沉淀场所形成的百吨洞穴石，再现了恢弘离奇的地下喀斯特景观。

Theme Exhibition of Karst Landforms

      The Stone Forest Scenic Area captures the essence of the world’s karst landforms with Paleozoic clusters featuring unique stone forms of the most complete varieties in the widest distribution. Reputed as one of the great natural wonders and recognized as the ‘Museum of Stone Forest Karst’, the ‘Museum of Sculptures by the Nature’, it has high values for scientific and aesthetic studies.

      This theme room displays various surface and subterranean landscapes formed in the distribution area of soluble rocks as a result of corrosion by ground water over a very long period of time.

      The Stone Forest is used as an example of surface landscape to recreate the evolution and changes of karst landforms in a combination of pictures, texts and samples of physical objects.

      In addition, the museum has rescued and preserved underground cave rocks exposed in previous mining activities and construction projects to make better use of them. Over the past decades, more than one hundred tons of cave rocks have been collected from different cave environments and deposit sites to reconstruct the magnificent and extraordinary underground karst landscape.
