每件木艺树标，就是一件天人合一的艺术品；每件乌木造型，构成了一尊灵木古玩。展厅由上百件大型的名木树标和巨型乌木根艺组成。藏品主要是多年来对工程施工、矿山开发，或因泥石流、地震、雷击等自然灾害而倒伏、掩埋的古木进行抢救性采集而收藏的名贵、稀有树种。

      名木树标有花梨、黄金樟、柚木、黄杨、金丝楠木、榉木、云杉、黄连木等珍稀树种，有些经过后期修整处理，赋予了文化内涵，如彝乡图腾——峥嵘虎威等被誉为馆藏经典杰作。

      乌木（阴沉木）兼备木的古雅和石的神韵，有“东方神木”和“植物木乃伊”之称。“百凤朝阳”、“神鸟归巢”、“圣人宣道”、“仙女散花”、“飞龙在天”等造型别致的大型乌木，不生虫、不褪色、不腐朽、不变形，演绎着旷久永恒。

Theme Exhibition of Ebony and Other Precious Wood

      Each piece of wood sample is an artifact designed and crafted between man and nature. And each ebony item is an antique made out of the spirit of the wood. This room displays one hundred samples of precious wood and large ebony root carving. Most of the wood here are rescued and preserved from rare and precious ancient trees toppled or buried by natural disasters such as mud debris flows, earthquakes, lightning strikes, or as a result of mining activities and construction projects.

      Samples of precious species include: rosewood, gold camphor, teakwood, boxwood, silkwood, beech, dragon spruce and pistacia chinensis. Some were processed and crafted after preservation to add cultural elements. For instance, The Awe-Inspiring Tiger in replica of Yi Totem is recognized as a classical piece of this museum.

      Ebony (also known as ‘dark wood’ in Chinese) combines the elegance of wood with the solidity of stone and is regarded in the Chinese culture as a ‘magical wood’ and ‘plant mummy’. The large ebony pieces such as ‘Phoenixes Flying to the Sun’, ‘The Divine Bird Return to Nest’, ‘The Preaching Saint’, ‘Fairies Spreading Flowers’ and ‘Dragon Soaring in the Heaven’ are ingeniously crafted works. Proof against bugs, corruption, deformation and fading in colors, they tell a story of timelessness and eternity.
